State Route 84 Slide Repair: An Update on Caltrans' Progress
Hey, everyone! Time for a quick update on the State Route 84 slide repair near Woodside, San Mateo County. Remember how the road got closed on March 9, 2023, due to a damaging slide? Well, Caltrans has been working hard to fix it, and we're making progress!
Here's what's been happening:
Lower Slide Stabilization: Caltrans is focusing on stabilizing the lower part of the slide to prevent further movement.
Southwest Quadrant Slide/Hole Filling: They're filling up the slide and any holes in the southwest quadrant, creating a stable base.
Pile Extension Welding and Painting: Caltrans is reinforcing the damaged section by extending, welding, and painting 34 piles for placement. They've already installed at least 10 of them.
Westside Drainage System: A new drainage system is being built on the west side, along with repairs to ensure proper water management.
Now, for the question on everyone's mind: when will the road reopen?
Late July 2023: One-way traffic will be established, providing limited access to the repaired section and easing congestion.
October 2023: The goal is to fully reopen State Route 84, with all repair work completed and the road safe for travel.
