Progress Update on State Route 84 Slide Repair - Roadway Reopening Soon! (Flyover from 07-16-2023)
After a damaging slide on March 9, 2023, a section of State Route 84 near Woodside in San Mateo County has been undergoing extensive repair work. The affected area lies between Foxhill Road and Portola Road, resulting in approximately 250 feet of roadway being severely impacted.
To address the damage and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, the roadway remains closed as an active construction site. The repair efforts entail a comprehensive set of tasks, including repairing the slope and constructing a retaining wall, reconstructing the roadway's structural section, implementing erosion control measures, and fixing the drainage system.
As of the latest update, the construction team has made significant progress in the repair process. They have drilled and placed 34 lower slope 50-foot piles, installed upper slope drains, and installed a new drainage system across the east end of the project area. Additionally, the team is actively engaged in culvert and vegetation control work along State Route 84.
The repair timeline indicates that by late July 2023, one-way traffic will be introduced, which will signify a major step toward normalcy. Finally, if all goes according to plan, the aim is to reopen the roadway to traffic in October 2023 fully.
